In April 2014 a negligent source water switch in Flint, a city of nearly 100,000 people (during that period) caused lead pipes to corrode and contaminate the drinking water. Devastating an already poverty-stricken city dealing with significant socioeconomic challenges. This catastrophic water switch resulted in:

Anthony played a pivotal role in ensuring safe drinking water for the people of Flint. His responsibilities included:

Your Presenter
Anthony Ross is the founder and Director of Environmental & Public Health International (EPHI). Before establishing EPHI in July 2021, he served as an Environmental Scientist with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for 12 years.

- During the Flint Water Crisis, he served as EPA’s Flint Safe Drinking Water Act Emergency Coordinator, supporting efforts to protect public health in Flint by ensuring safe drinking water quality for the community.
- He collaborated closely with the City of Flint, Flint’s public water system, and the state of Michigan to ensure compliance with EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Act, as outlined in our Flint Water Crisis: From Crisis to Recovery Training Brochure.
- Throughout his career at EPA he was responsible for regulatory oversight and provided technical support to state, local, and tribal environmental agencies.
- Anthony holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
