United Nations Global Digital Compact Recognizes Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator

Chicago, Illinois – December 5, 2025
Environmental & Public Health International® (EPHI) announced that its Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator® (LSLRCC) has been published within the United Nations Global Digital Compact, administered by the UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies.

The recognition highlights the tool’s role in improving access to safe drinking water, strengthening climate adaptive drinking water infrastructure planning, and supporting public health and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in communities worldwide.

Advancing SDG 9: Expanding Access to Essential Digital Public Infrastructure

The Global Digital Compact is the United Nations initiative guiding how countries build safe, inclusive, and trustworthy digital systems. Tools published on the platform are recognized for their contributions to digital equity, public benefit, and responsible data practices.

The LSLRCC now appears in this global registry as a digital public good that strengthens drinking water infrastructure planning, increases transparency, and supports SDG progress in communities of all sizes.

Supporting SDG 11 and SDG 13: Building Resilient, Climate Ready Communities

The LSLRCC is a free, multilingual, web-based planning tool that helps governments, utilities, Tribal Nations, and community organizations model the financial costs of lead service line replacement projects. Its transparent cost framework supports compliance with the EPA Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) while strengthening community resilience to climate-related risks such as flooding, drought, and extreme heat.

Advancing SDG 17: Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development

The LSLRCC is already recognized across the United Nations system, including UNEP, UNDP, UNDRR, UNESCO, UNIDO, and UNOSSC. Its publication within the Global Digital Compact strengthens its role as an accessible and collaborative resource that supports international efforts to reduce lead exposure and advance environmental health.

“The inclusion of the LSLRCC in the United Nations Global Digital Compact affirms a shared global commitment to ensuring that digital public goods strengthen safe drinking water access, environmental health, and climate resilience in communities across the globe,” said Anthony Ross, Director of Environmental & Public Health International.
