UNEP Recognizes EPHI Lead Service Line Replacement Planning Tool as Climate-Resilient Infrastructure Action

Chicago, Illinois – December 27, 2025
Environmental & Public Health International® (EPHI) has been listed on the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) global map of climate actions as a recognized climate-resilient infrastructure initiative.

The listing identifies EPHI’s Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator® (LSLRCC) as an action advancing climate-resilient drinking water systems, public health protection, and achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The UNEP public platform documents climate-relevant actions undertaken by governments, organizations, and institutions worldwide.

Climate-Resilient Infrastructure and Systems-Level Public Health Outcomes

The UNEP listing situates lead service line replacement planning within the broader context of climate-resilient infrastructure, recognizing drinking water systems as foundational public health assets that reduce vulnerability to climate-related stressors.

By strengthening planning capacity for drinking water infrastructure improvements, the LSLRCC contributes to resilience across intersecting risks, including extreme weather, legacy contamination, and infrastructure failure.

“The UNEP listing places lead service line replacement planning within the public climate action record,” said Anthony Ross, Founder of Environmental & Public Health International. “It reflects recognition that drinking water infrastructure decisions are part of climate adaptation and must be supported by transparent, comparable data.”

Safe Drinking Water as a Foundation for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development

The UNEP listing situates drinking water infrastructure within the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation and Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action. Climate-resilient water systems support public health protection, ecosystem stability, and long-term community resilience.
