Environmental & Public Health International Joins UNEP Cool Coalition
EPHI joins a global platform advancing climate action and resilience to extreme heat.
Press Release
Chicago, Illinois – August 23, 2026
Environmental & Public Health International® (EPHI) announced that it has joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Cool Coalition as a partner, connecting EPHI’s work in public health, climate resilience, and drinking water infrastructure with a global platform advancing sustainable cooling and action on extreme heat.
UNEP Cool Coalition Advances Sustainable Climate Action
Launched as a flagship initiative of the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit in 2019, the UNEP Cool Coalition brings together more than 300 governments, businesses, cities, and financial institutions to advance comprehensive action on sustainable cooling and extreme heat.
The Coalition supports solutions that strengthen climate resilience while reducing the environmental impacts associated with cooling.
Advancing Climate-Resilient Public Health Infrastructure
EPHI advances climate-resilient drinking water infrastructure through public health, environmental health, and lead service line replacement initiatives. Its free, multilingual Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator® (LSLRCC) supports utilities, Tribal governments, and local governments in planning equitable, climate-resilient water infrastructure investments.
Advancing Sustainable Development and Climate Resilience
EPHI’s participation in the Cool Coalition complements its broader alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Leadership Perspective on Climate Resilience and Public Health
“Joining the UNEP Cool Coalition reflects the importance of connecting climate resilience, environmental health, and infrastructure planning,” said Anthony Ross, Founder and Director of EPHI. “Protecting communities from climate-related risks requires solutions that recognize how environmental, infrastructure, and public health challenges intersect.”
Sponsorship Opportunities
Sponsorship opportunities for the Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator® are available to mission-aligned public, private, and nonprofit organizations.
Additional information is available on the LSLRCC sponsorship page.
