Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator Featured on IUCN GSAP SKILLS Platform

Chicago, Illinois – April 28, 2026
Environmental & Public Health International® (EPHI) announced that its Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator® (LSLRCC) has been published on the Global Species Action Plan (GSAP) SKILLS knowledge platform as a featured resource supporting implementation of the GSAP under the United Nations–adopted Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and advancing drinking water infrastructure planning.

The listing, “Planning Lead Service Line Replacement to Advance Safe Drinking Water, Public Health, and Climate Resilience,” presents an applied approach to estimating, prioritizing, and financing lead service line replacement programs.

Supporting Global Biodiversity and Sustainable Development Implementation

The GSAP SKILLS platform is part of the Global Species Action Plan, developed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature to support implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The platform provides tools, guidance, and resources to assist governments and stakeholders in conserving species and managing ecosystems sustainably.

The inclusion of the LSLRCC highlights the role of drinking water infrastructure planning in advancing interconnected objectives across public health, ecosystem protection, and climate resilience.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Sponsorship opportunities for the Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator® (LSLRCC) are available to mission-aligned public, private, and nonprofit organizations. Additional information is available on the sponsorship page.

Applied Planning Approach for Lead Service Line Replacement

The featured solution documents a structured methodology that integrates public health considerations, infrastructure planning, and equity-oriented program design. It supports transparent cost estimation, program structuring, and stakeholder engagement across diverse regulatory and utility contexts.

Since its launch in April 2025, the LSLRCC has been used to estimate over $3 billion in lead service line replacement costs based on anonymized usage data.

The approach is designed to address legacy lead contamination in drinking water systems while aligning with long-term resilience objectives and regulatory requirements.

Advancing Safe Drinking Water and Climate-Resilient Infrastructure

The Lead Service Line Replacement Cost Calculator is a free, multilingual, browser-based tool that supports planning and decision-making for lead service line replacement programs. It contributes to broader efforts to advance safe drinking water, climate-resilient infrastructure, and implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“Integrating drinking water infrastructure planning into global knowledge platforms reflects the growing alignment between public health, environmental systems, and long-term resilience strategies,” said Anthony Ross, Founder and Director of Environmental & Public Health International.
